The Rock Church Staff and Deacons are part of our serve team—the Staff oversee specific areas of ministry within the church and the Deacons assist the elders by meeting practical needs within the church body.

Abel Carrico

Lead Pastor

Pastor Abel Carrico’s life is driven by a desire to be in the Presence of of God. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Abel felt the Lord call him to the mission field of the United States at the age of 17. Once in the States, Abel attended college, met his wife Nicole, and together they started ministering to the lost and lonely. They attended Harvest School with Iris Global in Mozambique, Africa before moving to Greeneville, TN to minister to underprivileged children in state’s custody. Abel lives fully surrendered to God and faithfully follows His commission to make disciples of all nations.

Jeffrey Thompson

Administrator

Jeffrey Thompson and his wife, Brooke, share a love for worship and the arts, mentoring young people, and spending time in the Presence of God. They have seven children: Jonathan (and his wife, Emily), Katherine, David, Grace, Timothy, MaryAnna, and Galia. Jeffrey carries a passion for discovering relational joy with God and others, entering God's rest, inner healing, prophetic ministry, and the fire of God. He combines administrative and team building skills with a pastoral heart.

Priscilla Hutto

Children’s Ministry Director

Priscilla Hutto and her husband Mark were led by the Lord to move to Greeneville TN in 2023 with their three children: Joshua, Amira, and Levi. Priscilla is a passionate Children’s Director who loves the Lord and has a heart for helping children grow in their faith. With years of experience working with kids, she is dedicated to creating a safe, joyful, and engaging environment where children can learn about God’s love. Priscilla believes every child is precious and has a unique purpose, and she strives to teach biblical truths in ways that are fun, meaningful, and easy for children to understand. Her goal is to partner with families and the church to help raise a generation that knows, loves, and follows Jesus.

Nick & Brittany Cannon

Youth Leaders

Nick and Brittany Cannon each separately fell in love with Jesus before meeting each other and getting married in 2016. Realizing that nothing else satisfies than our kind King, they gave their lives to follow wherever the Lord leads. They also moved to Greeneville, Tennessee in 2016, and began to live out their passion for God’s will, worship & prayer, and pouring into the next generation, including their own children. God has gifted them with Lily Joy, a spunky, courageous little girl; and Oak, a kind, strong little boy. They are honored to pour into the youth at The Rock Church and are excited to lead by obeying whatever the Lord desires to do.

Joe Adorante

Deacon

Joe Adorante and his wife, Cindy, are high school sweethearts from East TN and have been married almost 50 years. They share a passion for God and His Word, serving those in need through the food truck and CARE Center, spending time with family and friends, and the great outdoors through camping, hiking, kayaking, pickleball, and motorcycling. They have 2 children: Mitch and Tyler; 3 grandchildren: Courtney, Trevor, and Emma; 2 great-grandchildren: Reese and Emmett. Joe is a jack of many trades who loves others well, has a great sense of humor, and enjoys patiently teaching others new things from his experience as a machinist, engineer, and troubleshooter.

Garrett Eriksen

Deacon

Garrett Eriksen and his wife, Kinga, both love digging into God’s Word and sharing it with anyone who will listen, which they live out weekly through the Bible Study groups they lead. Together they enjoy hiking, doing spartan races, and taking their two children, Izabela (Izzy) and Liliana (Lily), on fun new adventures. God led them to Greeneville, TN in 2022 through a journey of faith that richly deepened their walk with Him. Garrett’s heart is generous and kind, full of wisdom for repentance and conflict resolution, and quick to seek the Lord’s perspective. In addition to a great sense of humor, Garrett has hair to match his personality—it remains at perfect peace in spite of chaotic situations.

Ed Howells

Deacon

Ed Howells and his wife, Laine, have both been radically transformed by the Lord Jesus, and they passionately love Him with all their hearts, souls, minds, and strength. They have fully given their lives to selflessly loving others the way He has loved them. The closest recipients of that love are Ed and Laine’s 13 children: Jeffrey, Anna, Madison, Makinsey, Josh, Morgan, Justin, Timothy, Mackenzie, Marlee, Cameron, Jefferson, and Tallon, along with their 3 grandchildren. Ed’s singular passion is Jesus, and those who know Ed best describe him as dedicated, loyal, and one of the most loving people they have ever met.
